Layla McCarter (36-13-5, 8 KO’s) will face Diana Prazak (13-3, 9 KO’s) in the first BKB female match up.
Fans of the newly formed Big Knockout Boxing will have something to look forward to when the organization hosts its second event April 4th: the women will be joining the BKB ranks. It was announced late last week that Layla McCarter (36-13-5, 8 KO’s) and Diana Prazak (13-3, 9 KO’s) will face off in “the pit” to determine the first BKB women’s lightweight champion.
McCarter comes in with over 18 years of experience as a professional and a slew of world titles to her credit. A former champion in five weight divisions, she’s held titles for four different sanctioning bodies. After a two year lay-off, she returned to action this past November to take a one sided eight round decision over former world champ Melissa Hernandez.
Diana Prazak is the current WBC super-featherweight champion and a former WIBA title holder in the same division. After turning pro just five years ago, she won the Australian super lightweight title in just her sixth contest, with her first world title win coming late that same year. After winning the WBC super featherweight title from Frida Wallberg in June of 2013, she made one successful defense, and then lost to Delfine Persoon in a challenge for Persoons lightweight title.
Four world champions saw action this past weekend, but all were fighting in non-title contests. Thursday night in Tokyo, WBA atom weight champion Ayaka Miyao (20-5-1, 4 KO’s) defeated Momoko Kanda (8-7-2, 2 KO’s) by six round decision. Miyao has held the WBA title since September of 2012 and has made five defenses. Kanda has never fought for a world title, but recently won the WBC Asian Boxing Council minimum weight belt.
Undefeated Raja Amasheh (18-0-1, 4 KO’s) added a regional title to her waist, winning the WBC silver flyweight title in Germany with a lopsided 10 round decision over the former WBO minimum-weight champion Teeraporrn Pannimit (20-8, 5 KO’s). Amasheh is the current WBF flyweight champion and a former champ in the super flyweight division.
Debora Anahi Dionicius (19-0, 5 KO’s) won her third consecutive non-title affair with a six round win over Florencia Roxana Canteros (6-8-1) in Argentina. The IBF super flyweight champion has held the title for over two years and made five defenses, her last being a fourth round stoppage of Neisi Torres a year ago. Canteros had a short run as the Argentina flyweight title holder, but had lost three following title opportunities.
At the Profight-Gym in Switzerland, Vivian Fontana (8-0, 5 KO’s) picked up the vacant WIBA International welterweight belt, stopping Edita Lesnik (2-9) in two rounds. The undefeated champ also holds the WIBF welterweight world title, won this past October.
Former world super bantamweight champion Ana Julaton (14-4-1, 2 KO’s) had a successful return to the ring, scoring a six round decision over Yolanda Segura (16-10, 10 KO’s) at the Hotel Holiday Inn in Durango, Mexico, it was the second time the two have fought and the second time Segura was on the losing end. This was Julatons first boxing match in over a years time, as she spent 2014 building a mixed martial arts career, compiling a record of 2-1.
