The 27 year old son of the former world light heavyweight champion takes his second pro outing on the under card of ESPN’s Friday Night Fights.
3/27 – Shannon Briggs (57-6-1, 50 KO’s) vs. Zoltan Petranyi (51-21, 16 KO’s) – Hotel Sortis, Panama City, Panama
Briggs was scheduled on a card last week, that fight got scrapped but he does have opponent this time. Petranti is the current UBO European heavyweight champ and the former Hungary heavyweight title holder. He had won 15 straight before getting stopped his last time out.
3/28 – Nonito Donaire (33-3, 21 KO’s) vs. William Prado (22-4-1, 15 KO’s) – Araneta Coliseum, Barangay Cubao, Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines
After getting stopped by Nicholas Walters (his second loss in his last four bouts), Donaire fight son home soil for the first time since 2009, going back to the drawing board and moves back down in weight for the vacant NABF super bantamweight title. The former world champion faces a former regional belt holder in Prado, who lost his one big bout, getting stopped by Scott Quigg in three rounds in 2013.
3/28 – Donnie Nietes (34-1-4, 20 KO’s) vs. Gilberto Parra (19-2, 17 KO’s) – Araneta Coliseum, Barangay Cubao, Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines
Headlining the Manila card is WBO world light flyweight champion Donnie Nietes making the sixth defense of the title against former Fedalatin title holder Parra, who has heavy hands but not a very impressive resume.
3/28 – Roy Jones Jr. (60-8, 43 KO’s) vs. Paul Vasquez (10-6-1, 3 KO’s) – Pensacola Bay Center, Pensacola, Florida, USA
After a quick one rounder two weeks ago, Jones defends his WBU cruiserweight title in his home town in the hopes of securing a contest with Marco Huck later this year. Doubtful that Vasquez will fare any better than Willie Williams did.
3/28 – J’Leon Love (18-1, 10 KO’s) vs. Scott Sigmon (24-6-1, 13 KO’s) – Palms Casino Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
Love is rebounding from an upset loss to Rogelio Medina where he was stopped in three rounds. The former WBA International super middleweight champ had beaten some solid gatekeeper to that point, and Sigmon looks to be a guy that will give him a few rounds but pose little danger.
